Netflix’s original series BoJack Horseman was no stranger to featuring plenty of celebrity cameos. From Naomi Watts to Wiz Khalifa, a ton of familiar names and animated faces made an appearance on the show about everyone’s favorite anthropomorphic horse. Of the many celebrity cameos featured in the show, a few stick out in particular for being especially funny, memorable, or just outrageous. Keep reading to look back at some of the funniest celebrity cameos from BoJack Horseman

Sir Paul McCartney

Our first celebrity cameo needs no introduction. The legendary Beatle voiced himself in this short, but hilarious appearance in Season 2 Episode 4: “After the Party.”

Mr. Peanutbutter throws Diane a surprise birthday party, despite the fact that she hates both surprises and parties. Throughout the episode, characters hint that Sir Paul McCartney himself is hiding inside of a giant birthday cake waiting for the right time to jump out. A fight between Diane and Mr. Peanutbutter spoils the evening and causes guests to leave. Long after the party ends, Paul finally decides to make his move, jumping out of the cake and singing, “Surprise!” before he realizes everyone has already left. Before the episode ends, Paul dejectedly crawls out of the cake and mutters to himself, “I came all this way to jump out of a cake? Honest. With a new suit on. Aye-yai-yai…”

Many fans didn’t actually believe Paul himself would appear on BoJack Horseman, but lo and behold, his name appears in the credits. It turns out that his cameo was as much of a surprise to fans as it was to the showrunners, especially BoJack creator Raphael Bob-Waksberg, who admitted to Business Insider that he had a ton of cameos planned just in case. “I was driving to work one day… and I got a call from Noel Bright, our executive producer, who said, ‘Hey, did you get that email this morning?’ And I said, ‘No, what email?’ And he said ‘Yeah, he’s [McCartney’s] recording today. He’s calling in in five minutes. You need to get over here,’” explained Bob-Waksberg.

While Paul complains about traveling such a long way to jump out of a cake in the episode, the Beatle never actually had to make such a journey. “With him, because he’s such a big star, we actually sent a guy with a microphone to his house. That’s some real special treatment.” Bob-Waksberg said.

Jessica Biel

Biel-lieve it or not, actress Jessica Biel had a big recurring role on BoJack Horseman as one of Mr. Peanutbutter’s ex-wives, a candidate in the running for California governor. The actress herself reportedly told showrunners to make her character as awful as possible and they succeed.

She is introduced via flashback as Mr. Peanutbutter’s former wife in Season 3 Episode 2: “The BoJack Horseman Show” and continues to be a recurring character for the rest of the series, playing an especially large role in Season 4. In BoJack, Biel’s cameos are wildly self-deprecating. The Illusionist star (not to be confused with The Prestige) has a perfume line called “Bielist” and yes, it is supposed to sound like “b-list.” Biel’s character is comically vapid and self-absorbed despite her self-awareness surrounding the reception, or lack thereof, of her films and political career.

Biel’s arguably greatest cameo moment takes place in Season 4 Episode 7: “Underground.” After Mr. Peanutbutter’s house sinks underground during a political fundraising event as a direct result of fracking, it doesn’t take long for things to get crazy. Biel leads the citizens and celebrities of Hollywoo in a Lord of the Flies-esque revolt where they begin to worship fire and choose sacrifices for the sake of surviving underground. When rescue from the sinkhole is finally imminent, Biel indignantly calls out, “No, please! I’m important down here!”

While the Jessica Biel in BoJack may have peaked underground, the real Jessica Biel is still in action, starring in The Sinner, which is now on its third season, and Limetown, where Biel plays a journalist investigating the mysterious disappearance of over 300 people at a neuroscience research facility. You’d better bie-lieve her acting talents are just as important above ground.

Margo Martindale

Like Jessica Biel, August: Osage County actress Margo Martindale plays her complete foil in BoJack Horseman. In one of the most hysterical recurring gags, “Esteemed Character Actress Margo Martindale”, as she is lovingly referred to in the show, goes from being an innocent actress to a complete wild card with a violent temper and a penchant for criminal antics. Martindale is introduced in Season 1 Episode 4: “Zoës and Zeldas” where BoJack hires her to help him in a scheme to sabotage Todd’s rock opera.

Later, BoJack enlists her acting abilities and criminal talents to break up Mr. Peanutbutter and Diane by having Martindale steal Diane’s engagement ring in a staged bank robbery. However, the plan is thwarted and Martindale is imprisoned, but continues to make cameo appearances throughout the show where she causes more trouble.

The real Margo Martindale doesn’t quite have the same criminal history as her BoJack counterpart. Instead of sabotaging weddings and rock operas, Martindale has just finished shooting the first season of Mrs. America, an FX series that follows the true story of Phyllis Schlafly, the Conservative activist that fought against the Equal Rights Amendment movement during the mid-1970s.

Margo Martindale was a fan favorite on BoJack. Her best cameo moment perfectly encapsulates the character’s wild nature and why she became a fan favorite. While speeding away from a convent in a stolen convertible, she shouts back to the nuns, “When you get to heaven, look up Margo Martindale. I won’t be there, but my movies will be!” Then, the actress speeds off to somewhere where, we can only assume, she will certainly wreak more havoc.

Daniel Radcliffe

To the dismay of all the Harry Potter fans out there, Daniel Radcliffe is unfortunately not a recurring celebrity character in Hollywoo, but his    In a pretty hilarious sequence on Season 2 Episode 8: “Let’s Find Out!”. Daniel Radcliffe appears alongside BoJack on the fictional game show, Hollywoo Stars and Celebrities: What Do They Know? Do They Know Things?? Let’s Find Out! The Harry Potter star cheerfully snubs BoJack by not recognizing him after the two supposedly became really good friends. In a petty move of vengeance, BoJack pretends not to know who Daniel Radcliffe is and completely blows a bonus question by purposefully confusing Radcliffe with actor Elijah Wood. This faux confusion isn’t too far off from reality, though. Radcliffe and Wood often find themselves being mixed up by fans for their similar traits and the fact that they’re both known best for starring in successful fantasy film franchises.

However, Radcliffe has come a long way since his wizarding days of Harry Potter. He recently starred in the thriller Escape from Pretoria and wrapped up shooting a new Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt special.

Zach Braff

Scrubs star Zach Braff is our final and funniest celebrity cameo on BoJack Horseman. Braff makes an appearance on Season 4 Episode 7: “Underground” playing as himself, along with Biel. As one of the more “famous” guests at Mr. Peanutbutter’s political fundraiser, Braff won’t let any of the other partygoers forget it. The actor wanders through the party introducing himself as “Famous actor Zach Braff” to no one in particular and bragging about driving a Tesla.

When Mr. Peanutbutter’s house sinks because of all the fracking on his property, Braff and the other partygoers are initially hysterical and terrified that they’ll never see the surface again. But, Braff begins to give a powerful, Scrubs-esque speech to save the day and as he finally begins to win the crowd over with his words… Jessica Biel literally burns him alive with a lighter and hairspray and leads the partygoers to eat his remains.

Of the many celebrity cameos featured on the show, Braff’s appearance in Hollywoo is both memorable and hysterical for just how bizarre and insane the situation becomes. Not to worry, though, because the real Zach Braff is alive, well, and definitely not murdered and devoured by Jessica Biel.
