Johnny Depp Said Keira Knightley Was Too Young for Him to Kiss — But Amber Heard Is Younger
Johnny Depp and Amber Heard’s continuous divorce drama dominates the news — and many are wondering what Depp’s other past relationships have been like. Looking back, we can’t forget Depp once commented on what it was like to kiss Keira Knightley when she was a young star in Pirates of the Caribbean.
Depp reportedly thought it was quite awkward kissing the young star. But we can’t forget that Heard is actually younger than Knightley. Here’s what we know.
Johnny Depp commented on Keira Knightley’s age after they kissed for a film
Depp and Knightley acted opposite each other in Pirate of the Caribbean, and they certainly did an incredible job. The two were very well-recognized for their work on the film. And many wondered what it was like for both of them when it came to kissing each other, as Depp is over 20 years older than his co-star.
It seems Knightley, who was just 17 when filming the first film in the series, didn’t mind kissing Depp. “I couldn’t ask for a better kissing scene with Johnny Depp actually, I think my 14-year-old self was yelping with pleasure,” she told TMZ. “It was fantastic! What more can a girl ask for? I’ve got Johnny Depp and Orlando Bloom and I get to kiss both of them. It’s wonderful!”
As for Depp, he admitted it felt strange smooching someone so much younger than him. “Kissing someone you are not romantically involved with is always awkward, but the fact that Keira is 20-something years younger than me made it infinitely more awkward,” Vanity Fair reports Depp said in an interview. “Still, she was a good sport about it and we did what we had to do.”
Amber Heard is younger than Knightley
Heard and Depp are deeply embroiled in a feud that’s spanned years. The two married back in 2015, and by 2016, they were planning on divorcing. Heard came forward with abuse allegations against Depp which Depp has denied. And Depp has also filed a defamation lawsuit against Heard after Heard wrote an op-ed about her abuse.
There’s no doubt the public’s getting lost in confusion over all of the allegations between the exes. And there’s another element that’s often talked about: Their age difference. Depp is currently 57 years old, and Heard is 34. That makes her one year younger than Knightley.
While Heard is younger than Knightley, she was still in her mid- to late-20s when she started dating Depp in 2012. When the two married in 2015, she was 29. This is still significantly older than Keira Knightley was when she started shooting Pirate of the Caribbean.
Perhaps Depp had different opinions regarding dating and kissing when he was filming the Pirates of the Caribbean movies. And he’s also reportedly dated another woman who was even younger.
Were Depp and Knightley ever romantically involved?
While Depp and Knightley have talked about kissing each other, were they were seriously romantically involved? It seems there could be some evidence to suggest it. Vanity Fair notes Depp has to turn over communications with every actor he’s dated due to ongoing legal battles with Heard. And Knightley is reportedly on the list.
Knightley and Depp have never confirmed they were in any sort of romance, Vanity Fair notes. But there’s always the possibility that a hidden relationship could’ve flown under the radar.
Today, Knightley is married to James Righton. And Depp will continue his trials with Heard, though we’re hoping that can end soon for everyone involved.
